Other Airports in Bangalore 2025
Bangalore already has one big airport called Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). But now, the city is getting ready for a second airport. This is because more and more people are flying, and the first airport is getting too crowded. So, the Karnataka government wants to build another airport to help manage the busy air traffic.
Bangalore needs another airport because many people are travelling by plane. More offices and companies are opening in the city, so more flights are needed. A second airport will help control this rush. It will also give people more jobs and bring more tourists and visitors. It will make travelling faster and easier for everyone.
Each year, more people are using Kempegowda Airport:
In 2021, 22.5 million
In 2022: 27.5 million
In 2023: 37.2 million
In 2024: 40.73 million
That’s a lot of people! So, another airport is a good idea.
The government is thinking about where to build this new airport. Some of the places they are looking at are Kunigal, Dabaspet, Tumkuru, Ramanagara, Bidadi, and Harohalli. These places have good roads and are not too far from Bangalore city.
Dabaspet is on a big highway, so cars and trucks can reach it easily. It is near many factories, so it can also help in sending goods.
Kunigal is also on a big road and may get more new roads in the future. It has open spaces where new factories and buildings can come up.
Bidadi is close to the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. This means it’s easy to go to and from the city. There is also a lot of free land here.
Harohalli has good roads like NICE Road and Kanakapura Road. This place is also being planned in a way that protects the environment.

When Kempegowda Airport was built, land prices in nearby areas like Devanahalli became much higher—more than 86%! This means people who owned land there could sell it for more money. Also, the areas around the airport grew a lot, by around 15–20% every year. The same thing may happen near the second airport, too.
